Why Become an LIC Agent?
How to Become an LIC Agent in 5 Steps
Check Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old, have passed 10th standard (12th for urban areas), and be an Indian citizen. No prior experience needed. LIC provides all training.
Find a Development Officer
Contact your nearest LIC branch and ask to speak with a Development Officer (DO). They will guide you through the process, provide training material, and sponsor your exam.
Complete 25 Hours of Training
LIC mandates 25 hours of practical training covering insurance fundamentals, LIC products, selling techniques, and regulatory requirements. Your DO will arrange this.
Pass the IRDAI IC-38 Exam
Take the Insurance Council exam (IC-38). It's 50 MCQs, 1 hour, and you need 35/50 to pass. It covers insurance principles, products, regulations, and ethics. Most candidates pass on the first attempt.
Get Your License & Start Selling
Once you pass, IRDAI issues your agent license. You'll get an agent code and can immediately start selling LIC policies. Your DO will guide you through your first few policies.
