Death Claim

Steps

  1. 1Nominee or legal heir should inform LIC immediately. call NRI helpline or visit nearest branch in India
  2. 2Collect Claim Form 3783 (claimant's statement) from LIC branch or download from licindia.in
  3. 3Gather documents: death certificate (original), policy bond, claimant's ID, bank details
  4. 4If death occurred abroad: get death certificate attested by Indian Embassy/Consulate
  5. 5Submit all documents to the servicing LIC branch in India (through a representative if needed)
  6. 6LIC processes the claim. typically within 30 days of receiving all documents
  7. 7Claim amount credited to nominee's Indian bank account (NRE/NRO) or as per nomination

  • Death certificate attested by Indian Embassy (if death abroad)
  • Cause of death certificate from hospital/doctor
  • Police FIR (if accidental death)
  • Post-mortem report (if applicable)
  • Claimant's passport copy and address proof
  • Original policy bond (or indemnity bond if lost)
  • NEFT mandate form with bank details

Maturity Claim

Steps

  1. 1LIC sends a discharge form 2-3 months before maturity. check your registered address
  2. 2NRIs should update their address with LIC well before maturity date
  3. 3Fill the discharge voucher, sign it, and get it witnessed
  4. 4Attach: original policy bond, ID proof (passport), cancelled cheque of NRE/NRO account
  5. 5Submit to servicing branch or send via registered post through a representative
  6. 6Maturity amount credited to your bank account on or shortly after maturity date

  • Passport copy (attested)
  • NRE/NRO bank account details with cancelled cheque
  • PAN card copy (for TDS purposes. if applicable)

Survival Benefit

  1. 1For money back and whole life plans, survival benefits are usually auto-credited
  2. 2Ensure your bank details are updated with LIC. especially your NRE/NRO account
  3. 3If not received on the due date, contact the servicing branch with your policy number
  4. 4NRIs can authorize a family member to follow up at the branch
